Moves so far:

Trade for Walker
Sign Cabrera

Also, Cuddyer is retiring.

Who else should the Mets target?

I'd say with the 12 million saved from Cuddyer they should go after Cespedes. He wants to stay in NY and the Mets might get a good deal.He was one of the main reasons they got into the postseason and it's a shame he injured his shoulder for the WS.Anyhoo, they have the pitching but need a good hitter to replace Murphy and make up for the declining Wright.

On the last day of the NFL regular season, it is time to note: 45 days until pitchers and catchers report.

That is incredible news!!! They need him.Wright is really declining as per his terrible World Series performance. With our pitching and Cespedes, we might have a good shot at another World Series!

Went to the Daytona 500 and spring training last week! Mets look great and Tejada says the leg is good. Hopefully they will find a spot for him.

2016 Mets Season Empty Re: 2016 Mets Season

Post by Math23x7 Sun Apr 03, 2016 4:52 pm

We are just hours away from first pitch tonight.  For months, I have been a bit skeptical about the Mets chances this year based on lack of speed on the basepaths (which the Royals displayed in the World Series last fall) and the ultimate pitching question:  How many pitchers will tear their UCL and require Tommy John surgery?  I'm not sure if Syndergaard has ever had Tommy John surgery.  Is he due for one?  Will all those innings the starters threw last year come back to bite them?  Will Familia be able to shake off his not-so-good Spring Training and World Series performance?  Until recently, my thinking was that the Mets might struggle for a playoff spot.  But upon further consideration, I have them winning the division winning 88 games.  A lot can go wrong though, especially in the first two games in KC.  You know that the Royals look to remind everyone why they crushed the Mets a few months ago.

Cespedes error that leads to an unearned run and a SB attempt against Salvador Perez that fails. Yup, that's how I envisioned tonight.....ugh

Tough loss

Big chance in the 9th but Wright and Cespedes struck out. Wright looks awful at the plate. He can't catch up to fastballs anymore.

Plus Wright missed two fielding chances.Hope he realizes he's going to hurt the team this season.I love the guy but when it's time,it's time.He stunk in the World Series as well.Time to start looking for a young  3rd baseman.Shameful to lose to these guys who beat us in the Series.Wanted to see us kick their asses, like a 10-2 score win.Harvey not sharp.Collins should have started Colon, he deserves it and might have been his last chance to start.Wight's only going to get up and in cheddar from now on, watch.

Here we go, I'm griping and complaining ALREADY after only one game,LOL!

Great game today. Thor pitched a gem, great relief by Henderson, Reed and Familia. Wright stole 2 bases so I think he is feeling ok. Can't wait for Friday!

Fun, but cold day at Citifield for a Mets win! I really like Henderson in relief. David looked good, had some good swings and flexibility, so as long as he takes care of himself we shouldn't have anything to worry about. He will be sitting out tomorrow's game though. Big sexy goes tomorrow night weather permitting. DeGrom had some back tightness but he's not worried, probably just the cold, but he looked good.

Awful display by the offense tonight.  Reminds me of the offense from before the trades in late July last year.  I was very skeptical of the Cespedes re-signing last January.  He better step it up soon.  He heard some boos during the game tonight.  Last year, they had three 1-0 losses.  Two against the Nationals at Citi Field May 2nd and 3rd,  one in Atlanta on June 21st and one against the Cubs at Citi Field on June 30th (by b-day).  I'm not sure which was worse today, the NY team I root losing to the team in the Philly region or us here in NY losing out to snow to those in the Philly region.

Cespedes and Grandy not producing, can't have that in the top of the lineup. The Phillies pitcher was pretty damn good, throwing some good stuff.

Colon pitched a great game last night. Too bad that the hitting was ice cold. Colon still has it at 43 years old. He also made a great catch. He is the most interesting man in baseball lol.

True about the hitting, but I'd rather see them have a crappy April-May and then get red hot late August through September for the pennant run.At least Cespedes looked better.

These are the teams that the Mets need to beat, not lose. Starting the season against these teams 2-4 is unacceptable. Get your act straight.

Cespedes is starting to hit better
