I understand that Matthew is a huge rainmaker for the Carolinas, but overall as far as its effects on the United States I would give it a 3 on a scale of 1-10. With all the hype it got it has been a huge letdown!! (thankfully for those in its path)

It could and would have been much worse if the eyewall made landfall over Florida when it was a stronger storm. The fact that it stayed just offshore made all the difference in the world. It was bad but it could have been much worse.

Looks like once Matthew starts back ots, he'll not recurve....soooo much rain though, terrible flooding down south. Thankfully my relatives in Hilton Head evacuated, but they don't know when they will get back in, lots of flooding.

Well, Matthew is on his way out, although he is leaving the coast with some decent rainfall....

From the NHC

"Matthew is now fully embedded within the mid-latitude westerly
flow, and this deep-layer steering pattern is expected to move the
cyclone east-northeastward and away from the coast of North
Carolina today. An eastward motion is expected by tonight and
should continue until Matthew dissipates in 48 hours or so. The new
NHC track forecast is a little north of the previous track and lies
close to a blend of the ECMWF, UKMET, and GFS solutions"

Rainy raw and quite windy. Is the wind really coming from matthew or is it from the trough? Rain really got pulled north. Still on and off here just on the northern cusp of the cutoff. I know northern guys s and e lol. Hopefully you'll get a good hit this year I want a hurribluzzard

I'm at the shore this morning and I'd say this is more Matthew remanents than trough/frontal. It's pouring rain with 17 mph winds and gusts near 30. I don't know where the "center" technically is but we've got the leftover rain and wind.

Yeah..a little sad along with you..(I know we needed the rain)..but we have a long weekend with school being closed part of next week and had planned a boat trip....raining hard now and we have an inch of rain and wind at around 12 mph...a great day for a cafe or a fireplace...

It's funny you say that because we just talked about putting the fireplace on. Lol. Winds are whipping down here, up to 26 mph and gusts have to be over 40 mph.. The irony is I left the island for Hermine and Sunday was sunny with little wind; I stayed here expecting Matthew to stay south of us this weekend and it's windy with heavy rain. Oh well. Lol.

No model had this - EURO had him to the SC/NC coast at best and then hooking - even in its 1-3 days forecast look at how far NORTH the winds have gotten
