As much as I like this team so far, we have to keep in mind that the Mets have given us a bit of hope each of the last eight years only to go through a slump and miss the playoffs. This shows the most games over .500 the Mets were each of those years, what they were on pace for, and how they finished. I just hope this year turns out to be different.

That chart says it all.Terrible decline in days over 500 ball since 2007.Yeah, let's hope it is different.Thinking next year is the big year with Wheeler back in shape and a trade for a young 300 100 RBI hitter.

Hey, Dunz, you're a good luck charm, Girl, keep going to Citi and they win!

Great game, love to see the kids producing, D'Arnaud, Cambell (David who,LOL) and the Dude Duda! Granderson may not be hitting but he's a great defensive player, great catch.Best thing for me in the game...D'Arnaud throwing out a speedster at second.Last year he couldn't throw out my 94 year old Mom stealing second.Flores three run homer....most excellent and if he can start producing like that....yeah baby!

As another worthless anecdote of mine, consider the fact that the Mets FINALLY made a good decision. They had the choice of keeping either Ike Davis or Lucas Duda and gave up Ike.

How many remember the ill fated Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi deal or losing Amos Otis? The Mets have made some bonehead moves in the past but not with Duda.

Oh yeah! The old man does it again! The team is gellin' and everyone is contributing, we are not relying on the long ball or no-hitters....awesome week for the boys!  LGM!

You don't know how happy I am for Colon, 3-0 at age 41! Also hitting and fielding. What a joy to watch the team play solid baseball.Love Lageres and Flores hitting better and Cuddyer is disproving my "aging wreck" theory,LOL.Hope he makes me eat those words all season. We're off to a great start!

Boys did it again, although there was a little agita at the end of the game as is often the case with the Mets. 7 in a row, de Grom has a .93 era

Mets win again, but at a cost. D'Arnaud fractured right hand and Blevins fractured left forearm. Calling up Plawecki as replacement for d'arnaud. Recker to remain as backup. Oh to be a Mets fan! shout

It was too good to be true but I enjoyed the run.We can live without Blevins but D'Arnaud's loss will hurt as he has been a fantastic hitter. This kid Plawecki is supposed to be good.

I'd be out for blood when we face these guys again.Somebody has to get it good to answer for D'Arnaud!

Guess they were afraid to do that after Stanton's injury last season but somebody else should have been hit in the back like Harvey did to Utley.

Gonna make lemonade out of the lemons here.Plawecki is a prize prospect catcher and if he can hit like D'Arnaud, maybe things won't be so bad.Wright back in 15 days.I'd guess D'Arnaud and Blevins 6 weeks each.

Mets 2015 Season - Page 3 Empty Re: Mets 2015 Season

Post by Math23x7 Sun Apr 19, 2015 8:33 pm

Hopefully this doesn't become a repeat of 2009 where the Mets had so many injuries. The big difference is that they didn't come until May that that year. Although they were good through the end of May, it was when we learned they would be out longer (in fact the rest of the season) that they began to struggle. The rest of the division (including the 1st place Phillies) struggled through July 2nd. Then the Phils swept the Mets and that's when the season fell apart and they finished 70-92. Prior to that sweep, the Mets were 39-39, one game out of first place, although there were so many games that year they should have won, including 4/12/09 when Daniel Murphy dropped the fly ball in left against the Marlins and 5/18/09 when Ryan Church did not step on third base against the Dodgers. But the toughest loss was without question 6/12/09 when Luis Castillo dropped the pop-up at Yankee Stadium. We will have to see how the replacements do over the next month or so with these key players out for a while.

Yeah, remember that Castillo error very well.I was away on a fishing trip with my old Frat brothers, mostly Yankee Fans, and had to take a lot of ribbing for that one.

Poor fundamental baseball that year which is the fault of the coaching staff and manager.Don't see that this year so far. This team is plagued with injuries for years and don't know the answer to this day.

Anyway, let's hope Wright and D'Arnaud get back in 5 to 6 weeks.A bone break will heal.Ligaments and tendons are iffy.

With the Mets as a Fan you have to appreciate small slices of greatness and be happy. This win streak is one and that Yankee Sweep of a year or so ago was the other.

It is legit as long as it stays healthy and that has been a major problem recently.Wright,D'Arnaud, Blevins, Black, Mejia including his bonehead suspension. You can't keep losing key people to injuries and remain a contender.

Typical Mets fan, so obsessed with the Yankees you can't even enjoy the moment your team is having.

The Yankees aren't in your league, other than this weekend and the series in September there's no need to give them a second thought. I never understood this mentality, although I admit if the Mets make the playoffs, which seems likely this year I will then root with all my being against them.
