If that's the case, the entire west coast of the sate gets the worst possible effects, and it will be a monster along the entire western edge of the peninsula, as well as several hours after landfall. Again, just my opinion, but there are several models that support this. We just have to wait and see.
that would be aweful!!

Looking back to page 8 of this thread, hopefully nobody did what everybody was saying to do-ie.if you were on the east coast, or had family there, that they should evacuate and head west. I realize that that advice was given because of what the models were showing at the time, but as we all know things have changed quite a bit since then and if they did what was recommended, they would have actually put themselves in harms way. As the saying goes "hindsight is 20/20."

Goodluck hunkering down and they lied to you about the einds. She is going to ride the coast and possibly stay just offshore to strengthen the whole ride.up as per the latest. Rb nailed this. Kudo's to him again.
Goodl uck stay safe.

As far as the winds I don't know what to expect, according to most forecasts down here Orange County isn't in the cone anymore I'm waiting to see what the new update brings but as far as wind I don't know what to expect

The Keys are catching holy hell. It's every person for her/himself down there.

And now the rest of the state will, too. Damn shame.

Eye wall approaching the keys within the next few hours.  South side of the eye wall does not look all that healthy on radar.  Looks like a combination of dry air infiltaating some from the west and NW and mod shear.  Its going tobe REALLY hard to strengthen with these two factors. Good news for Fla. West Coast

That is not a shock since there is a 10' surge and the islands have about that as a total elevation.

Not as strong as she was and modelling suggested but if she just heads North she is over warm gulf waters still fueling her or keeping her intensity levels up. Not the 185 CAT 5 from days ago for sure but still a destructive cane.

Many prayers were answered in my opinion. While Irma is still dangerous and bad for SW Florida, don't forget just 2 days ago (not even) most models had her making landfall near Miami as a strong Cat 4 or 5 hurricane. This morning, Irma is a Cat 4 but if you look at satellite imagery she looks very beaten down and I haven't seen any report winds greater than 100 mph yet. The west side of FL or eastern Gulf also is a much less cyclone environment so expect Irma to weaken from here on out. Good luck to anyone who has family or friends down there!

The SE coast of FL seem to be getting some strong winds for being further from the center. Unlike the west coast their winds are coming straight off the ocean

These guys are just stupid. Just stick your arm out the window to get a wind reading. With all the debris one day one of them is going to get killed. All for a little attention.
