Re: 2014 Yankees
This team gives me the worst agita. Thank god I work evening shifts cause I couldn't bare to watch these games. The offense is pathetic.

Good for you, Mugsy.Gutsy, gritty winning team to root for. They are palyoff bound if they keep this up.

Throw in the towel guys, they are going to make life miserable down the stretch. Win to lose two, win one, lose two, win three lose two, not enough arms to get you there IMO.
The trades they made were blah.
A's, tigers, o's, jays, angels, - kc?

As a baseball fan, I will leave that opinion of Paul O'Neill to the Yankee Fans.I will say that he was a gritty and hardworking player who always demanded excellence from himself. That great Yankee team of the late 90's-early 2000's really had no mega superstars. They had great chemistry and O'Neill, I think, was a huge part of that.

Re: 2014 Yankees
This may be the most frustrating Yankees team I have ever seen. The offense struggles to score two runs a game. 4 or more runs seems like 100 runs for them. Terrible.

Re: 2014 Yankees
So, the Yankees will not be making the playoffs for 2 years in a row. Last season was Rivera's last season and this year is Jeter's. It is a real damn shame. So many under performing players this season for the Yankees in their lineup. They need to all get healthy and come back next season in hopes of playing better ball.

Re: 2014 Yankees
As a baseball fan, I think the loss of Rivera was a major blow.Having a regular type human relief pitcher means more in the loss column. The Yankees penchant for creaky, aging "superstars" has blown up in their face. They need to develop young farm talent and mold a unit with chemistry.Think Joe Girardi did a great job keeping this Yankee team right in it until a few days ago.
Not having the Yankees in the post season is a major blow for baseball as they require the utmost in excellent play to beat them.

Re: 2014 Yankees
You and me both brotha. I'm headed to the game Thursday evening. I am honored to say I will be at Derek Jeters last home game....ever. Unless there is some sort of miracle. 6 games back with 11 to play. I hope the game is more exciting than Derek Jeter day was on the 7th.Frank_Wx wrote:My heart can't take this

Hey, Doc, Yanks still alive! Hoping for Derek Jeter that the miracle you spoke of above comes true. He's getting hot and I'd love to see him in the playoffs when he really tears things up.

My voice strained a bit by screaming "GO! GO! GO!" on the last play on the Yankee game when Richardson ran around third to home. As a Met fan I will say this, it was only fitting that in Derek Jeter's last home game, he gets the walk-off hit. Congrats Jeter on a brilliant career!

Re: 2014 Yankees
I am sitting in Penn station waiting to head home from the game. I have been to some unbelievable Yankee games in my day playoffs and World Series included. That game might have been my favorite. I have no voice and nearly tumbled out of the upper deck along with the rest of the people around me when he got that hit. Incredible!

Mike,
That was fitting for one the greats to end the way he did - hats off to him and a true baseball fan would have done the same as you. It doesn't matter how much you may dislike the Yankees or whatever to see a guy who put his heart and soul into the game and being a Yankee is tremendous. It was only fitting.
The big question, who else in today's day of $$$$$$ will stay with a team for their whole career (loyalty on both sides)- I think we may have seen the last one.
Scott good for you - I am sure Frank would have loved to been there as well as many other Yankee fans.

Whatever team you are a fan of, you just have to respect and admire this fine young man who worked so hard and stayed on the straight and narrow as a Yankee. So glad he had an amazing night and that all the Yankee Fans here had great enjoyment being at or watching the game.
Hall Of Fame first vote, and rightfully up there with all the Yankee greats.

Re: 2014 Yankees
Doc I saw that. Very class of them.
I'm happy with what the Yanks have done this offseason so far. Acquire young talent to infuse the roster. There's a lot of bad contract coming off the books in 2016-2017, and some of their young talent has really impressed in the minors, so I think we're goinG to be seeing a new direction to this team soon.

Re: 2014 Yankees
As a baseball fan, I think it's always best to build a solid club with outstanding rookies from your Farm System and have them come together chemistry wise. That happened with KC this year. The Yanks are moving in the right direction working with young talent rather than these creaky, aging prima donnas.A little over 6 weeks to pitchers and catchers reporting!
