Re: July 1st 2016 Severe Threat Observations
Was at the Mets game and saw Mike, 2nd rain delay was a doozy. Lots of lightning, and folks were staying up in the top levels, they really should have been evacuated out of there. .25" here in NNJ.

Re: July 1st 2016 Severe Threat Observations
Looks like I missed a good severe weather outbreak. There probably won't be another one until the next time I go away. Any tornados?

Welcome back Frank. There were reports of a tornado up in southern Dutchess County, although it hasn't been confirmed yet.

There was rotation in at least 2 cells, one in Poughkeepsie and one later over Bergen County. Welcome back Frank!

Re: July 1st 2016 Severe Threat Observations
Hail was reported in our area yesterday. Got blitzed with a storm that blew over us yesterday afternoon. Fast, but incredible storm, wish you had witnessed it! Other than that, most of the County got sandwiched between cells to the north and south, only reported .46" here. EWR only reported .20".Frank_Wx wrote:Looks like I missed a good severe weather outbreak. There probably won't be another one until the next time I go away. Any tornados?

Re: July 1st 2016 Severe Threat Observations
The cell from the last rain delay at the Met game in the 6th inning was intense with heavy rain, lightning, and thunder. Meanwhile, here was Vic Dibitetto's take on the storms last night:

Re: July 1st 2016 Severe Threat Observations
I took this video at Citi Field in NYC on Friday night as the tarp came off the field in the third inning. I had noticed on the radar that another cell was approaching us from northeastern New Jersey, and the clouds and lightning were visible from where I was. Here I am pointing out that there could be a long night ahead as another rain delay could happen. As it turns out, the cell I was looking at would bypass us but a cell a bit further south would hammer us with heavy rain, lightning, and thunder in the top of the sixth inning of the Mets-Cubs game, a game the Mets would go on to win 10-2. I am with my college friend (Janet, he was with me when I saw you there). If you're wondering which voice is which, I am speaking at 0:20 saying "I'm looking at the radar" and my friend at 0:29 says "Yea"

Re: July 1st 2016 Severe Threat Observations
Yes it certainly looks hot this week actually more humid. Average highs mid-to-upper 80s in our area now so low nineties is only several degrees above normal. I can take the Heat but not the humidity. The pattern the next two weeks looks like heat followed by a few days of Cooler less humid weather and then back to the Heat and humidity. Not too bad with the breaks in between. we just have to get through this month August is much more tolerable as the days are shorter and the nights longer.RJB8525 wrote:Very muggy 73*, hope everyone had good and safe 4th.
