Re: 2016 Yankees Season
I am sticking with my pre-season prediction of the Yankees winning 95 games and going to the WS. That factored in Chapman's absence in the first five weeks of the season. I knew that once he returned, they would start going on a run. I wonder if Brian Cashman will attempt to make a trade for a starting pitcher to add to the rotation. I think what killed the Yankees season last year was their lack of mid-season trades, which the Blue Jays and Mets did plenty of. This had the Yankees settle for the wild-card where the lost the one-game playoff to the Astros at Yankee Stadium.

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
I'll tell you this: The Yankees got burned in this game by mother nature and the groundscrew. Must be a brutal loss. Of course, before you say anything else, the Mets season could very well be in jeopardy with the elbow issues from both Syndergaard and Matz. If at the end of July the Yankees are several games back and the Mets fall out of it, it could be a dull Subway Series come August.....

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
I'm convinced that the Yankees are no better then a 500 team. With teams like the Nationals, Cubs, Giants and Rangers all looking for bullpen help, I would have both Chapmen and Miller on the trading block. As the August 1st deadline nears, these teams will start to get more desperate and a bidding war will ensue. We should be able to get some grade A prospects to further strengthen our farm. Yanks should also trade away Beltran and Mccan.

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
This year, the Yankees have a .500 record at the All-Star break. In 2007, the Yankees had a .500 record at the All-Star break. After the break they had a .671 winning percentage. I expect something similar from this year's Yankee team. I stand by my expectation of 95 wins and World Series appearance for them that I had before the regular season began.

Michael, please PM me the drugs you're taking. I need some.
I expect then to be sellers at this year's trade deadline.

Mike did someone slip you a Mickey ??? Sell Sell Sell - no WAY in H-E- Double L hockey sticks are the Yankees winning 95 games and NO WAY or they making it to WS. Love the passion but the past team you are talking in '07 about ain't this team my man.
Enjoy the AS break baseball fans.

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
The Yankees recent winning ways have not swayed my thinking that they should sell at the trading deadline. Last nights loss to the lowly Rays only fortifies my line of thought. First off they should trade Miller to the Nationals. Currently they do not want to give up any of their top prospects, but if the Yankees stay persistent I believe the Nats will cave in. Ask for pitching prospect Giolito or Lopez along with outfielder Robles. Then trade Beltran to Indians and get back whatever you can. Add those prospects to the ones we received from the Cubs in the recent Chapmen trade, we will have a very good farm system. By the time the 2018 free agency period comes around which will be loaded with talent, we can go after some big players with all the cleared cap space we will have at our disposal with Arod, Texiera, and Sabathia off the books. Hang in there Yankee fans its not as bleak as it looks!

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
The future is bright for Yankee fans. The farm system is stocked and it will only get better if we trade Miller and Beltran. It will definitely be ranked a top 10 farm system with several impact bats and arms. Next year may not be the year, since the FA market is fairly weak and our rookies will be getting use to the league, but 2018 definitely will be when we sign Bryce Harper

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
I think its a smart move for the Yanks, move him out of the way to make room for young talent.A Rod can't turn on a fastball anymore and is doing nothing to help.I will hand him this, he tried his best to redeem himself and conducted himself as a class A guy the last few seasons.Redemption is allowed to any transgressor in my book.
As Frank said above, the move to young talent is a very wise move.KC did that 4 or 5 years back and it paid off big time for them.

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
I will admit, it is very unlikely that the Yankees will 95 games during the regular season. To do so, they need to go 32-7 (including this game). Now, since they play some teams like the Red Sox, Orioles, and Blue Jays a lot down the stretch, they will try to get a wild-card spot. Of course, the fact that they traded away Miller, Chapman, and Beltran shows you that they weren’t looking much at this year as hopeful. But if they do not make the postseason this year, Yankee fans do have a lot to be hopeful for and they have acquired some young talent. In fact, the youth movement is already on display at the major-league level. With A-Rod now retired and Tex retiring at the end of the year, you Yankee fans have a lot to look forward to.

6 wins in a row; 8-2 in the last 10. Only 4 games back in the East and 1 game back of the last wildcard spot. These youngsters....

Re: 2016 Yankees Season
I was all set with accepting the season for what it is and looking foward to these youngsters next year. Even if we dont go deep if we can get in and have some of these kids play in a post season series the experince would be invaluable. Im excited either way.

Last nights Yankee game was awesome! I know it's a long shot but I'd love to see these kids give it a go in a playoff series.
